Areej holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work from the Social Policy Change Program at Tel Hai Academic College and a master's degree in Public Policy with a specialization in local government from the University of Haifa. She is also a graduate of the Ministry of Interior’s Cadet Program. She is currently a master’s student in Urban and Regional Planning at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a fellow at the Urban Clinic.
Areej manages the Organizational and Strategic Development department in the Majd al-Krum Local Council, is in charge of employing people with disabilities, and is responsible for advancing emergency preparedness in the Local Council.
As part of her scholarship at The Urban Clinic, Areej is accompanying a placemaking project in Acre in partnership with the Arab Center for Alternative Planning, the Alam Center, and the Tishreen Association.
