Ekram completed her bachelor's degree in Social Work at the Hebrew University. She worked as a social worker for 4 years, including work in local authorities. Ekram's work in the local authorities and getting to know the municipal area prompted her to pursue a master's degree in political science at the University of Haifa, where she was selected to be in the first cycle of the Ministry of Interior’s ‘Cadets for Local Government’  to advance the workforce in local authorities.

Ekram currently works as a strategic planner for the Arara Local Council and is responsible for advancing planning goals throughout the whole settlement, encouraging the development of industrial areas, and promoting public and commercial space in the settlement.
