Architect Islam Idaes lives in the Abu Tor neighborhood in East Jerusalem. Islam has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Palestine Polytechnic University in Hebron and has planning experience in Area C, preparing detailed plans for Palestinian villages. Islam is currently an M.A. candidate in Urban and Regional Planning at Hebrew University. She also works as an urban community planner in community administration to improve residents’ quality of life. She coordinates the urban planning and development at the community level and serves as a liaison between residents and the City’s planning and development authorities. As part of her work at the Urban Clinic, Islam is responsible for facilitating sessions for Palestinian planners that deal with planning and legal issues in East Jerusalem.
