2020-2021 | The Urban Clinic

2020-2021

The main 2020-2021 theme for 2020-2021 was Urban Renewal. Menachem Dorfman and Smadar Weiss examined Urban Renewal in Neve Yaakov in Jerusalem, Ameer Bisharat in Nazareth, and Yihiel Avital in Neve Ofer in Tel Aviv. Along similar lines, Mayssana Morany and Noa Daya Kanfo studied social aspects related to urban renewal processes. Both Merav Stein and Merav Dagan explored diversity in cities of conflict, while Merav Stein looked into reaching consensus in complex spaces, Merav Dagan explored ways to introduce a shared nightlife in such a divided city. Transport was another theme pursued by students. Shir Gilo and Dvora Ruckin explored ways to improve childrens’ walks to a school in Pisgat Zeev, Ala Barhoum sought to establish a school-based bike riding club in Shuafat, and Merav Stein began a second project on transportation in the Old City of Jerusalem. In an attempt to improve public spaces, Noa Yaniv undertook research on closing roads to private vehicles in order to provide more public spaces to residents. And finally, in a nod to the past and his family history, Yuval Steinberg introduced an innovative idea to preserve the history and legacy of maabarot.
